The Dixie Hummingbirds
The Dixie Hummingbirds. The longest-running gospel group in America, founded in 1928 in South Carolina. Paul Simon recruited them to sing on 'Loves Me Like a Rock' in 1973, introducing them to a new generation. Their harmonies influenced everyone from Sam Cooke to the Temptations. They were still touring in their 90s.
