Rod Temperton wrote for Heatwave, and the song is pure kinetic joy -- a bassline that bounces, horns that punch, and a chorus that demands movement from anyone within earshot. Temperton would later write Thriller for Michael Jackson, but this was his first undeniable masterpiece. Peaked at number seven on the Hot 100 in 1978.

The groove wasn't just a line. It was an entire highway.
